During this, when he met Shastri, he said, ‘You have made a film on the lives of soldiers but have not made anything on those farmers, because of whom everyone in the country is fed.’ This thing sat in Manoj’s heart. He promised Shastri that he would make a film on ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’.
